Willeke Westendorp studied medicine at the University of Utrecht. She then worked for a year as a neurology resident at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam. She completed her PhD research, which focused on the benefits of preventive antibiotics after a stroke, in 2019. She is currently working as a neurologist at Amsterdam UMC and conducts research on the role of the immune system during stroke.
