How can I get in touch?

The Department of Neurology at Amsterdam UMC focuses on neurological infections and inflammatory diseases in patient care and research. This means that there is a specialized outpatient clinic for this patient population. Patients can be referred by their neurologist for further diagnostics or treatment advice related to neurological infections and inflammatory diseases. If you have persisting symptoms or questions following a neurological infection, you can also contact us.

At our clinic, you will be seen and examined by a medical trainee (co-assistant) first, who will then discuss their findings with one of the neurology residents, who will also conduct a full neurological examination. The neurology resident will review their findings with Prof. Dr. D. van de Beek, Prof. Dr. M.C. Brouwer, or Dr. W.F. Westendorp, who may repeat parts of the examination if necessary and will discuss the conclusions and treatment plan with you.

To ensure we have a comprehensive overview of your medical history and previously performed diagnostic tests, we prefer to receive a referral from your general practitioner or specialist that includes all prior correspondence about your illness. Our secretariat may contact you to obtain written consent before retrieving this information.

Referrals should be addressed to:

Attn: Prof. Dr. M.C. Brouwer, Neurologist or Prof. Dr. D. van de Beek, Neurologist
