Ingeborg van Zeggeren
Ingeborg van Zeggeren studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2016. She then worked for a year as a neurology resident at MC Slotervaart. As part of her PhD research, she initiated the I-PACE study. In 2021, she began her neurology training, and in 2024, she defended her dissertation titled "Clinical predictors, biomarkers and pathogen discovery sequencing in suspected central nervous system infections."

Merel van Kassel
Merel van Kassel studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2016. In 2017, she began her PhD research, and in 2021, she defended her dissertation titled "Invasive group B streptococcal disease in the Netherlands." Since 2022, she has been in training to become an anesthesiologist.

Anne Kloek
Anne Kloek studied Medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2012. During her PhD research, she focused on the functionality of genetic variations influencing susceptibility to bacterial meningitis or disease outcomes. In 2019, Anne began her neurology residency.

Soemirien Kasanmoentalib
Soemirien studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2012. She conducted research with the neuroinfection group from 2012 to 2023. Her PhD research focused on the role of the complement system in bacterial meningitis. In 2016, Soemirien began her neurology training.

Merel Koopmans
Merel Koopmans studied medicine at Utrecht University. She conducted research from 2014 onwards and completed her PhD on 'Listeria monocytogenes meningitis' in 2022. Merel started her neurology training in June 2016.

Daan Fritz
Daan Fritz obtained his medical degree from the University of Amsterdam. From 2015 to 2022, he conducted research and completed his PhD on the topic of neurosarcoidosis. Since 2023, Daan has been working as a neurologist at Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep.

Inge Hoogland
Inge Hoogland studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2009. From 2010 to 2022, she conducted research on the effect of systemic infection on the immune system of the brain. Currently, Inge works as a neurologist at Meander Medisch Centrum in Amersfoort.

Dunja Westhoff
Dunja Westhoff studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2012. During her PhD research, she investigated sepsis-associated encephalopathy in patients with sepsis and delirium. She currently works as an anesthesiologist at Erasmus MC.

Philip Kremer
Philip Kremer studied Pharmacy and Medicine at Utrecht University. From 2014 to 2021, Philip conducted research on identifying risk genes in bacteria that determine the outcome of meningitis. He completed his neurology training in 2020 and currently works as the Research Director of Neurology at the Centre for Human Drug Research in Leiden.

Hina Khan
Hina Naz Khan studied bioinformatics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. From 2015 to 2019, she conducted research on integrating host and pathogen responses in meningitis and sepsis. Since 2023, she has been working at the Tygat Institute as a postdoctoral researcher.

Jan Dirk Vermeij
Jan-Dirk Vermeij completed his medical training at Maastricht University, graduating in July 2010. He began his PhD research in 2010 and defended his dissertation titled 'Preventive antibiotic therapy in patients with acute stroke' in 2019. Since 2021, he has been working as a neurologist at Sint-Franciscus Ziekenhuis.

Kiril van Veen
Kiril van Veen studied medicine at Leiden University and obtained his medical degree in 2008. During his PhD research, he focused on studying immunocompromised patients with bacterial meningitis. Since 2016, Kiril has been working as a neurologist at Alrijne Ziekenhuis.

Joost Costerus
Joost Costerus studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his medical degree in 2008. He began conducting research in 2015 and completed his PhD in 2018 on the topic 'Lumbar puncture in bacterial meningitis'. Joost has been working as a neurologist since 2016.

Jurgen Piet
Jurgen Piet completed his doctoral degree in Medical Molecular Biology in 2003 and obtained his medical degree in 2008, both from the University of Amsterdam. He began his PhD research in 2011 and defended his dissertation titled 'Bacterial genetics in meningitis' in 2016. Since 2019, he has been working as a neurologist at Haga Ziekenhuis.

Marjolein Lucas
Marjolein Lucas studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her medical degree in 2011. She defended her dissertation titled 'Complications and outcome of bacterial meningitis' in 2016. Marjolein began her neurology training at AMC (now Amsterdam UMC) in 2014.

Mercedes Valls Serón
Mercedes Valls Serón obtained her Master of Science degree in 2005 from the University of Barcelona. In 2011, she completed her PhD on the topic 'Thrombin-activated fibrinolysis inhibition and bacterial infections'. Since 2011, she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on experimental research on bacterial meningitis.

Kees van Ettekoven
Kees van Ettekoven started his neurology training in 2012. During the final phase of his training, he conducted research on patients with bacterial meningitis, specifically focusing on the predictive value of consciousness scores and mortality. Since 2018, Kees has been working as a neurologist at Haga Ziekenhuis.
