NOGBS study 

National prospective cohort study of pregnant women and their newborns in the Netherlands

In- and exclusion criteria

Inclusion criterion:

  • Pregnant woman giving birth in a participating hospital

Exclusion criterion:

  • No exclusion criterion

Practical Procedure

Note: Each hospital has specific arrangements regarding different study components.

  1. Discuss the study with the pregnant woman and provide the patient information folder. Keep the original consent forms in the study folder, and give a copy to the pregnant woman.
     
  2. Collection of materials:
    • Serum (5-10 ml): collect 5-10ml clot blood
    • Rectovaginal swab: collect swab. Always note the study number (G...) on the tube.
    • Umbilical cord blood(2ml): collect clot blood from umbilical cord (tube with pink sticker). 
       
  3. Record the patient on the patient inclusion log and note participation in the study in the patient file.
