Shahrzad Deliran graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Amsterdam in 2012. Afterward, she started her residency program in Neurology at the Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen. There she followed specialized rotations in stroke and movement disorders. In her final year of residency, she did a subspecialization in neurologic infections and inflammatory disease at AUMC. During this year she started researching bacterial meningitis. In 2021 she started a Ph.D. program focusing on neurovascular complications in patients with bacterial meningitis. Since July 2020 she is also working as a neurologist at Dijklander Hospital in Hoorn and Purmerend.
