Fabian Liechti studied medicine at University of Bern, Bern, Switzerland and is board-certified in General Internal Medicine (2019). He investigated adjuvant therapies in experimental pneumococcal meningitis and obtained his MD,PhD degree at the Neuroinfection Lab, Institute for Infectious Diseases and the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences, University of Bern for the thesis “Protection and Regeneration of the Hippocampal Stem Cell Niche in Pneumococcal Meningitis” (Prof. S. L. Leib) in 2015. Currently he is investigating temporal changes in the epidemiology of pneumococcal meningitis, e.g., the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and related contact measures on clinical outcomes.
